This was a super fun day out and i made a new friend too, bonus! Will had contacted me on Couchsurfing saying that he didn’t have a room for me but would i like to meet up for a walk as he was also new to Victoria. We met up downtown and got the bus out to Elk Lake, getting along like old chums instantly. He’s Australian and waiting for his French girlfriend to get a visa and make it over here too. We found where we were going and did a 10km loop of the lake which was frozen over in parts and very pretty. A nice flat walk and beautifully sunny, though still very very cold. Lots of bird life and other walkers enjoying the sunshine. Towards the end we struggled to work out where we had started the loop and at what point we should head back through the trees to the highway to get the bus back. Luckily after asking a couple of people we had no trouble getting off the trail again. We were just in time for a passing bus, perfect! and hot footed it back to town to get a yummy and much needed Mexican lunch.
Number 7-10km
