Beacon Hill is an easy to get to park right in downtown Victoria, with wonderful sea views and great little beaches and grassy areas full of dog walkers. The first time i visited here was after a harrowingly cold snowfall in town, but i was determined to get out for a walk. I realised halfway into the park that this may have been a bit foolhardy as i no longer had the big coat i used to wear in Banff. Luckily i persevered and was rewarded with bleak, chilly views. Families were tobogganing down the hills and enjoying the freezing weather much more than i was! I walked out to a great little lookout point through some bushes and after stopping for as long as i could bear headed back to the hostel for a much needed hot drink. Despite it being a shortish walk i was very tired after this!
