This was a beautiful, peaceful walk on this gorgeous island where i stayed with a family for a couple of weeks. I set out from their family home on a surprisingly warm sunny January day and had a peaceful walk along the road past beautiful properties hidden in the forest. My favourite had a sign outside saying ‘An old bear and his honey live here’. Arriving at the trail it leads down on a soft, boggy path to the shore and there were plenty of opportunities to go onto the rocky beach. I sat in the sun on some driftwood for some time. An otherwise uneventful walk, i met just a couple of people with dogs walking along and watched young eagles (they are still brown when they are young) playing in the treetops. It felt good to be back in Canadas dense forests of the West coast, with that amazing earthy smell and so few others around.
