#41 Coed Cors-Y-Gedol

A lovely 4.5 mile stroll starting from Tal-Y-Bont near Barmouth on the Welsh Coast. Mum and I were following directions from one of those old skool books with line drawings of the route in it but luckily no getting lost disasters ensued. We strolled through pretty woodland alongside a gushing stream with water that looked almost black against the dark rocks in a way that i’ve only seen in the depths of Wales.

We then climbed up and along a track higher up on some wild looking moorland, passing gorgeous stone cottages and an ancient burial chamber. Over some muddy fields with some beautiful horses in and some beautiful stone stiles we had gorgeous views of the hills in the background and the sea to the left of us.

It started raining at the top of the hill but we found our way down a country track and through more woodland back to a track and to the road back to the car. It felt wonderful to be back in the fresh air of the UK and enjoying the home comforts of walking with mum. We were chilly after our walk and went for a coffee and soup in Barmouth and had a loo kin the shops. The beach was noisy with a moto X race going on but we strolled further away from it along the beach before heading home.
