#37 Manaslu circuit day 3- Jagat to Deng

Leaving Jagat this morning we were immediately met with the most daunting rockfall section i’d seen yet (pictured). Black slippery rocks with no footholds and angled towards the huge drop to the river below. I was not awake enough yet and Pasang had to hold my hand for a couple of the hairier moments. After a while like this the path became a little easier, and again we passed more cute villages with smiling kids shouting ‘namaste!’ at us. One day on the journey a small girl followed us for a long time just repeating the word ‘chocolate’- unfortunately we had none. We had lunch at the same time in the same village as a couple of other people who we’d met along the way. I felt very lucky to be doing this trip as it was not very touristy at all (just a few people here and there) and compared to Annapurna Base Camp or Everest Base Camp Cath said it was greener with newer guesthouses.

This was the day my legs seemed to have no power at all in them- i really struggled. I was already carrying next to nothing (Pasang had taken a couple of my jumpers/clothes) and couldn’t believe how hard i was finding the climbs- we weren’t even at high altitude yet! It started raining about an hour before we arrived into Deng, and the last bit of the walk was a big climb. I ended up hysterically laughing, and we eventually made it to a cosy (if a little damp) guesthouse for the night about an hour before dark. It had been a hard day but the valleys and waterfalls made it worth it- absolutely stunning.
