Chin Beach to Little Kuitsche Creek
Today’s hike was billed as merely ‘difficult’ not ‘most difficult’ though you couldn’t really tell the difference to begin with. Steep climbs were followed by a lovely little flat section in the forest which i enjoyed immensely. Back to rocky rooty terrain shortly though and a weave along an awesome vertigo inducing ridge on the way to Sombrio beach. My pack was still weighing heavy and i was glad to get to a sign saying ‘Sombrio Point’ (Sombrio beach being my halfway/lunch break mark for the day). However some sketchy scrambling followed to actually make it to the beach and it was a lot further than it looked. I made some noodles and lay on the beach for a while. The photo of my boots shows how muddy they were (mostly from an absolute comedy fall i had had the previous day!).
I carried on out of Sombrio at about 1pm and made my way to Little Kuitsche creek- a very creepy forest campsite. Luckily my Israeli friend was already staying there and the four middle aged ladies came along later. I found a rocky spot down by the ocean and sat there after a chilly dip in the creek to write and have my daily arnica massage oil shoulder rub haha. I had dinner with the ladies and an early night in anticipation of an early start. So much fresh bear poo on trail today i had to sing a lot!
#33 a lengthy forest and beach jaunt-12km again
