4- Minsterley and Poles Coppice

Determined to get out for one more British walk before leaving and having no means of transport, i stayed near home and tried a new walk near my mums place. First i crossed flat fields from Pontesbury to Minsterley, not overly inspiring and difficult to walk through due to lots of cow feet holes and long grass. In Minsterley i got confused a little trying to work out how to join the path i needed from behind the village hall. Luckily i ended up by a school field and a lady walking her dog pointed me in the right direction. I trudged uphill alongside crop fields and onto a road along the top. I stood by a gate to catch my breath and watched some very entertaining sheep as i had my coffee. On arriving at Poles Coppice there’s a welcome sign showing the trails. Confident that i knew where i was going i strode on…before somehow doing a loop and ending up back at the welcome sign. Luckily it was a short loop, but i was a bit alarmed. I studied the map more closely and set off into the wood more cautiously after that. I found my way through to the old quarry and picnic tables nearer to Pontesbury again and remembering a walk mum and i had done previously retraced those steps back past cottages and along narrow paths down into Pontesbury. A very satisfying afternoon.

Number 4- About 5 miles?
