3- Idwal Lake, Snowdonia

Following an evening of being extremely unsuccessful at the local pub quiz in Penmancho at our guesthouse (it turned out to be sports themed) we embraced the driving, chilly rain and came out here. A brief moment of confusion finding out where the walk started, and we were on our way. Passing along rugged high hill grassland along slippery stepping stones as the path we made our way towards the lake. A few people passed us who’d obviously gone out early and everyone was wet but looked happy, including ourselves. The lake was beautiful and set aside striking rocky cliffs. We circuited it along paths and the shores of little beaches, and saw an awesome little campsite at the far end of it, some adventurous souls were obviously staying there. We came across wild goats and thoroughly enjoyed this little jaunt. Very happy and cosy to get back in the car to drive home afterwards too, a great drive via Lake Vyrnwy.
